Double Trouble is a new exhibition exploring faux-personalities and the loss of authenticity created by social media ‘copycat culture’.
Titled Double Trouble, the free entry exhibition of mixed media work by photographer and video director Giacomo Favilla and creative director and illustration Valeria Crociata Milan is inspired by the desire of individuals in today’s society to transform into something they are not. Curated by Liat Chen, this first solo show from the Milan based duo will comprise a series of prints along with an animation.
The idea of the project was to play with the subjects facial features and expressions, adding geometric shapes, thus creating a double meaning. The intent is not just aesthetic, each subject represents a certain type of action, nothing is random. Giacomo and Valeria tried to interpret the parts of the subjects which are often concealed to the outside world, and bring them to the surface. The dual view this project as an opportunity to convey non-judgment of others, freedom of expression, and the value of showing one’s authentic self. The shots were captured with a strong burst of air that opened and deformed the mouth of the subjects.
